Zululanders gather in support of national movement
Everything you need to know about tomorrow's protests and gatherings in Zululand

FORMING part of the national movement to stand up against what many have labelled as a vote of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma, Zululanders are rallying together in an attempt to ‘protect their jobs’ and ‘save the economy’.
Richards Bay
Concerned Richards Bay citizens will meet tomorrow at 7am on East Central Arterial at the open space between the police station traffic lights and Essenwood Way traffic lights.
In a statement issued to the ZO, it was emphasised that the gathering is not a march nor an attack on any specific political party or individual, but rather a gathering of concerned citizens in the area.
According to the release the event will take place with the following strict rules:
• It is not a political event; it’s an event for concerned citizens
• No party regalia such as T-shirts or caps
• This is not a march
• You may bring a placard but not mention a particular party or individual. The aim is not to provoke any violent reaction putting the public at risk.
• Please stick to following slogans and nothing else:

Empangeni
A number of church elders have called on the community of Empangeni to join in praying for the country.
A ‘Call to Pray for SA’ will be held at the open space between Main Road and the Zululand Observer offices in Empangeni) tomorrow at noon.
Pastors Derrick Manqele, Andrew Anderson and Ivan Naidoo will be present in conjunction with the Unity in Christ Celebration (UICC).
Rumours of other planned demonstrations in Empangeni have been doing the rounds, however none could be verified.
Mtubatuba
DA PR Councillor at the Mtubatuba Muncipality, Annacletah Mabika, said that they will be hosting a peaceful protest.
‘All residents, despite what political parties they belong to, are welcome to join our peaceful protest starting from the Bonjour petrol station in Mtubatuba from 9am tomorrow.’
‘We will also have a petition to sign, ‘she said.
The protests and gatherings follow the recent cabinet reshuffle, the removal of former Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, his deputy Mcebisi Jonas and the appointment of several new ministers and deputy ministers.
Organisations that have pledged support for the protest action are Save South Africa, Corruption Watch, Treatment Action Campaign, Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse, Lawyers for Human Rights, Section27, Johannesburg Against Injustice and the National Religious Leaders’ Council.
