Two Tanzanian suspects were arrested at the Golel border post on Sunday when police discovered cocaine with a street value of R800 000 in hidden compartments of a briefcase.
Nas Issa (32) and Bohari Bohari (35) appeared briefly in court in Pongola on Monday and were remanded in custody.
They will appear again on 11 November for formal bail applications.
One of the accused provided a Johannesburg address and it is possible the drugs, acquired in Mozambique, were destined for Gauteng.
