The Ikhandlela Secondary School second stabbing victim’s health improving in hospital

THE news about the death of a second pupil attacked during a vicious knife attack at Ikhandela Secondary School in eSikhaleni are bogus.
Despite national news reports and rumours circulating on various social networks, the police have rejected statements that Sanele Hlatshwayo (18) succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning.
According to the police, despite the seriousness of his injuries Sanele’s condition has improved.
‘We don’t have any knowledge of his passing. The investigating officer also informed us he has spoken to the victim in hospital and there has been no new developments,’ said eSikhawini SAPS spokesperson, Capt Thembinkosi Mkhumane.
The surviving Sanele was one of two pupils subjected to schoolyard bloodshed, which took the life of Nqobani Ntuli (19) on Wednesday morning.
These two Grade 12 pupils were brutally stabbed by a Grade 11 learner, Sphamandla Mngomezulu (19) at the ablution block during a school break around 11am.
Sanele sustained several stab wounds and was rushed to hospital, while Nqobani died at the scene.
According to reports, the attack occurred following a serious altercation between two groups over a schoolgirl’s stolen cellphone on Tuesday morning.
It was revealed the police had to be called to calm the situation, however, on Wednesday the feud continued, resulting to the bloody scene.
After the incident, the suspect jumped the school fence and fled the scene, however, police nabbed him at Ntenga Cottages in uMkhobose Reserve within 30 minutes.
He was charged with murder and attempted murder.
He made his first appearance at eSikhawini District Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning.
The case was postponed to Tuesday, 28 March.
