John ‘moneybags’ McFarlane was the name drawn out of the hat on Friday evening at the Empangeni Cricket Club House, which earned John a whopping R20 000.
The Empangeni Sports Club lucky draw that took place at Addison Park on Friday evening, saw all ticket holders come out in hope of winning R20 000, R10 000 or R5 000.
There’s no better way to get one’s weekend off to a fantastic start, than to pocket some good hard cash.
The evening’s proceedings saw an auction take place before the main draw, which was run by Sean Francis, with all proceeds going towards the upgrade and development of Addison Park’s facilities.
The children of the ticket holders were treated to an adventure treasure hunt out under the night’s sky around Addison Park.
‘I was surprised that I won the R5 000, but I am going to donate the prize money back to the Empangeni Sports Club,’ said Patrick Addison.
John McFarlane (R20 000) and Robin Vermaak (R10 000) were not present at the function.
‘We met our goals and are happy with the amount of ticket sales,’ said Chairman of the Empangeni Sports Club, Paul Gouge.
