UPDATE: Fire engulfs luxury vehicle in Richards Bay home

Fire destroys vehicle, guts building

A LUXURY vehicle was almost burnt beyond recognition inside a lock-up garage at a house in Egret Estuary street in Birdswood this afternoon.

The fire is believed to have broken out at about 2pm after family members noticed smoke coming from the building where their Chevrolet Captiva was parked.

According to the vehicle owner, the cause of the fire remains a mystery as the vehicle is left in the garage during the week and is only used on weekends.

No one was in the garage at the time.

The structure suffered extensive damage as the fire gutted through the roof.

Items such a gas cylinder and other machinery which were in the garage were also destroyed in the blaze.
