Nine-year-old Stanger musician Saiyan Naidoo is more than just a good guitar strummer.
As the lead guitarist of The Tyles band he has been wowing the crowds for some time now, most recently blowing the audience away when he performed at the Battle of the Bands contest in Durban.
Saiyan has been playing guitar from the tender age of four.
His mentor is his grandfather Sydney Naidoo, who was the leader and drummer of the original Tyles outfit.
The Tyles will rock on in the Battle of the Bands show at the Umfolozi Casino Resort on 10 November at 4 pm.
They will be joined by one of KZN’s longest running bands – The Magnets.
Formed in 1960, this band earned the nickname ‘The Fab Four’ owing to their lead vocalist Johnny Soon’s ability to mouth Beatles’ hits to perfection.
Piecing the show together is a character well-known to Zululanders – the Karou Charou.
As Master of Ceremonies, Karou takes the audience on a nostalgic musical journey and, with his unique interactive style, has the audience clapping, singing and dancing in the aisles.
