Another collision involving MEC’s cavalcade

KZN MEC for Economic Development Sihle Zikalala emerged unscathed after his back-up vehicle collide with his main vehicle at the weekend in Zululand

YET another back-up vehicle of KZN MEC for Economic Development, Sihle Zikalala, was involved in a collision at the weekend.

According to Departmental spokesperson, Bongani Shisa Tembe the accident took place on Saturday afternoon.

‘No one was injured. The incident happened in Phelandaba between Manguzi and Jozini when the MEC was travelling from eMfihlweni area where he was at a festival,’ he said.

It is reported that MEC Zikalala was travelling in his main vehicle when his driver applied brakes as they approached speed humps.

The MEC’s back-up vehicle is reported to have hit the speed humps, presumably at high speed, before colliding with Zikalala’s main car, which in turn veered off the road.

Witnesses on scene noted that the back-up car was badly damaged.

Last month the driver of Zikalala’s back-up car, Bongani Maduna, was killed in a crash on the N2 near the eNseleni off-ramp.
