Social media legal expert comes to town

Social media legal expert is expected to address Zululanders at Solid Ground Church this Thursday

TOP social media lawyer, Emma Sadleir, is coming to Zululand.

Sadleir is popular for having co-authored the book ‘Don’t Film Yourself Having Sex,’ which details the legal, disciplinary and reputational risks faced by South Africans as they try to navigate the sometimes murky and unchartered waters of the digital age.

Felixton College and Solid Ground Church have partnered in heading up this special event which will take place at the church on Thursday 2 February at 6:30pm.

It is aimed at educating young and old of the risks involved in the digital era in an easily accessible way.

‘When I returned from the Independent School’s Marketing Association Conference in Pretoria last year, I was determined to bring Emma to Zululand as anyone who owns a smart phone, tablet or computer, needs to be aware of the powerful and devastating implications that can arise as a result of the misuse or lack of knowledge surrounding social media nous,’ said Felixton College’s Debbie Lane.

‘Why would a church partner with Felixton College in bringing out Emma Sadleir?

‘Well the answer is quite simple.

‘We have a deep love for our community and as a local church we feel that Emma can give us some helpful insight into the dangerous world of social media.

‘For too long the church has been seen as an institution that’s on the receiving end, whereas it should really be serving our community in as many ways as possible,’ noted Mark Neumann, Lead Elder, Solid Ground Church.

Tickets are R50 per person and are available from Felixton College or Solid Ground Church.

Cappuccinos will be on sale and there will also be a supervised baby-sitting service in the Solid Ground Youth Centre.
