Truck loses its load

One of the vehicles fell off the back of the truck, fortunately sustaining only minor damage

THE saying ‘your car must have fallen off the back of the truck’, aptly applied to a minor accident  this morning in Empangeni.

It was reported that a driver was heading up the hill on Thrush Road, before the ZSM Drive intersection, when he mistakenly changed to the wrong gear forcing the truck to lose power and switch off.

To make matters worse, in that moment the brakes on the truck also gave way.

According to Mr Khan, owner of the truck, one of the pipes on the compressed air brake system broke, leaving the driver helpless as the truck began to roll back over an embankment, inevitably crashing into the adjacent sugar cane field.

One of the vehicles fell off the back of the truck, fortunately sustaining only minor damage.

Officials were quickly on scene to ensure traffic was not disrupted as members of the public slowed down to try and get a glimpse of what was going on.
