TWO men accused of raping a 12- and 14-year-old girls in separate incidents were arrested last week.
According to police both arrests occurred on Friday in Mtubatuba and Jozini respectively.
The KwaMsane Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit arrested a 23-year-old man in Khula Village near Mtuba for allegedly raping his 12-year-old niece.
‘It was reported the man had repeatedly raped the girl between 21 December and 17 January,’ said KwaMsane SAPS spokesman, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe.
‘The victim alleges that on Tuesday, her uncle told her before she left for school that he would be waiting for her at home. Feeling it was too much, the victim instead went to a neighbour’s home after school and spoke of the abuse.
‘The neighbour then contacted the police.’
The man was arrested the same day and is expected to appear in the Mtubatuba Magistrate’s court soon.
Meanwhile in Jozini, also on Friday, a 25-year-old man was arrested under suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl from Biva Reserve in Jozini.
‘The victim told police she was visiting a friend when she was asked by the suspect to accompany him to his home,’ said Capt Mdletshe.
‘Allegedly upon arrival he forced her to have sex with him against her will. The suspect was found at his home and arrested.’
The man is being detained at Jozini Police Station pending further investigation.
