EMPANGENI SAPS quickly pounced on a vehicle that was hijacked on Sunday evening in Tanner Road.
According to police spokesperson Captain Mbongeni Mdalose, the hijacked victim was approaching a set of traffic lights on Tanner Road when four men with guns approached him.
The suspects pulled open the door and shoved the victim into the passenger seat holding him at gunpoint
‘One of our vehicles was patrolling the area when they noticed a Ford Ranger with occupants who were acting suspiciously – there was some sort of scuffle going on inside the vehicle.
‘Members pulled the vehicle over and two of the suspects got out and fled the scene.
‘The other two suspects were arrested and were found in procession of two unlicensed firearms as well as ammunition,’ said Mdalose.
A case of carjacking was opened and the suspects are expected to appear in the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court.
