WEATHER ALERT: Severe thunderstorms expected

ZULULANDERS should buckle down and prepare for another predicted severe thunderstorm tonight.

Last night, lightning struck and thunder echoed across Zululand with certain areas experiencing power outages.

The Empangeni Fire Department confirmed one incident in which a home in Ward 9 experienced flooding, but residents were able to handle the situation without help from authorities.

 

Although few incidents have been reported, a number of locals experienced flash floods in their gardens as well as fallen trees and even a wall down, some recording up to 85mm of rainwater.

The South African Weather Services provided the ZO with a detailed forecast:

‘From late afternoon going into the evening today, severe thunderstorms can be expected in the region.

‘There is a 60% chance of showers.’
