Bezuidenhout narrowly misses out in Swaziland
Bezuidenhout finally met his match (3-10) in the finals when taking on Swaziland's number one ranked player
LOCAL darts players Willie van Rooyen, Jerry Bezuidenhout, Richard Harvey and JP van der Westhuizen hopped the border to test their skills at a darts tournament held at Malkerns Country Club in Swaziland last month.
Both the singles and doubles competitions followed a round robin format, with 30 players competing in the singles and 50 in the doubles sections.
Van Rooyen and Bezuidenhout teamed up for the doubles, winning two, losing two and drawing one 701 game. Bezuidenhout was on fire, smashing three 180s and seventeen 140s
Harvey and Van der Westhuizen fared better, winning all their 701 games before being knocked out in the semi-finals.
But the pair bounced back and won the third and fourth place play-off to secure a medal.
In the singles competition, Bezuidenhout and Van der Westhuizen met in the semi-finals after throwing some top darts.
Bezuidenhout’s form continued as he beat Van der Westhuizen 6-1 to progress to the finals.
Van Rooyen won two, lost two and drew two games, Harvey won four, lost one and drew one game, Van der Westhuizen won five and lost one game, with Bezuidenhout going unbeaten.
