New Year newborns
66 babies born on New Year’s day at KZN public healthcare facilities.

THABISILE Hlatshwayo was distraught when she lost her prematurely-born twins a year ago. But the 30 year-old unemployed woman from Pongola was blessed with another set of twins on New Year’s day at Itshelejuba Hospital in Pongola.
Sibanesihle arrived at 3.30am, followed by her brother Senzelwe 15 minutes later, both weighing in at 1,5kg.
Gcinile Zulu (22) from Ntambanana gave birth to a healthy baby boy at the Queen Nandi Hospital at around 1:10am on New Year’s morning.
Both Ms Hlatshwayo’s twins and Ms Zulu’s baby were part of 66 babies (35 boys and 31 girls) born on New Year’s day at KZN public healthcare facilities.
