ALREADY the leading lights of the National First Division, Thanda Royal Zulu were put further into the spotlight on Tuesday as the new floodlights at their uMhlathuze Stadium home ground were showcased.
This magnificent asset was the focal point of a visit during the ‘100 days in office’ celebration tour of the City.
The floodlights are essential to make the stadium meet PSL requirements if and when the Amabhubesi gain promotion.
Addressing the media, City of uMhlathuze Municipal Manager Dr Nhlanhla Sibeko said he is happy the project of installing floodlights at uMhlathuze Stadium has finally come to fruition.
‘This baby, which has taken so long to arrive, has brought smiles onto our faces.
‘The installation of these four floodlights, which cost the municipality R12-million, will aid our beloved Thanda Royal Zulu to host evening games, which will attract more fans to our stadium,’ Sibeko said.
‘The lights will be operational in about four weeks’ time.’
