For the love of children and Christmas

Zululand Observer journalist, WELLINGTON MAKWAKWA, tells the story of his annual contribution to a local orphanage in eSikhaleni

CHRISTMAS is time for giving and spending time with those close to your heart.

Every year during this time I always look forward to spending time with children of Celukuthula Development Orphanage Home in KwaDube Village outside eSikhaleni – a place I have grown to love over the years.

On Saturday, I was so privileged to once again spend time with these precious children during my annual Christmas party celebration.

With help from the Zululand Observer charity arm Do I Care Enough (DICE) and other donors, who contributed loads of food, toys and hundreds of party packs, together we managed to put smiles on the faces of more than 150 children.

The day started with a prayer – thanking God for keeping us all and providing for us throughout the year.

Celebrations began with a feast fit for a king, followed by fun activities which included games, music and dance.

As we reach the end of the year and the jolly season, I extend my love and gratitude to all Zululanders who continuously support my adopted home and the initiative of providing for the needy.
