Thanda look to snuff out Stars

Thanda look for big win on Sunday

IT would be the shock of the season if Thanda Royal Zulu should fall to Cape Town All Stars at the uMhlathuze Stadium on Sunday (kick-off 3.30pm).

The unbeaten Amabhubesi have not lost or drawn a home game this season and one can’t see this happening against a team currently on the third from bottom rung of the NFD ladder.

To the contrary, Thanda are in pole position and have opened a huge seven point gap between themselves and the nearest chasers.

Given present form and the massive difference in talent between the two clubs, and results thus far, Thanda fans will be expecting a win by at least a three goal margin.

The only reservation would be the effect of their recent heavy schedule and any knocks key players might have incurred.

Another string to Thanda’s bow is the increasing spectator support their excellent form is attracting.

Fans are being bussed in from as far as Hluhluwe, Pongola and Mtubatuba to see this champion side in action and the atmosphere is electric each time the team takes the field to their ‘Impi’ signature tune.

The final league game before the mid-season break will be away to Stellenbosch next Saturday, 17 December.

Yesterday’s Nedbank Cup 1-0 loss against the same opponents will be irrelevant in terms of a yardstick for the league fixture.

Thanda were focussed on a bigger prize: promotion to the PSL.
