ANC retains two City wards

'The ANC is thrilled to have once again registered a landslide in these wards'

THE African National Congress (ANC) on Wednesday retained Wards 31 and 32 after by-elections were held.

Voters were asked to again make their mark following the Local Government Elections on 3 August after two councillors ‘resigned’.

‘The ANC is thrilled to have once again registered a landslide in these wards,’ said ANC KZN Provincial spokesman, Mdumiseni Ntuli.

In Ward 31 the ANC received 1 970 votes, the IFP 1049, NFP 52 and EFF 35, while in Ward 32, the ANC received 2 525 votes, the IFP 1061, and the NFP 296.

‘The results of the by-election affirm that the ANC’s progressive policies continue to benefit the poorest of the poor rather than the rich,’ said Ntuli.

Stella Dlamini, Independent Electoral Commission uThungulu Regional Supervisor confirmed that as of Sunday morning, no official objections or complaints regarding the results were received by her office.
