Pedal challenge in aid of rhinos
'We want to play our part in the fight against rhino poaching by providing awareness through this challenging ride'
ZULULAND cycling buddies Simon Rollo and Johan Oberholzer are pumped up for their epic 340km cycle journey on Saturday, 10 December, to raise funds for Project Rhino KZN.
The local cycling duo, better known as ‘Coffeed up’ owing to their early morning race starts, will pedal from Hillcrest to Hilltop in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve – all in one day.
‘We have decided to take on this challenge for a few reasons, mainly because we love the endurance type races in excess of 200km and because of the severity of rhino poaching,’ said Rollo.
‘We want to play our part in the fight against rhino poaching by providing awareness through this challenging ride in the hope of raising enough funds to assist Project Rhino KZN with the great work they do’
Caltex John Ross Empangeni has provided financial support towards this fund-raiser over the past few years, by handing over cheques worth R1 000.
‘We challenge all local petrol stations and businesses to match or better our donation towards this worthy cause.’ said Caltex owner and manager Wade French.
‘I would like to thank Wade for the generous contribution towards this initiative and urge other Zululand individuals and companies to get involved and take up the challenge.’ said Rollo.
Anyone interested in donating money towards Project Rhino KZN can contact Rollo on 082 9287642 or Oberholzer on 083 2800538.
