They say laughter is the best medicine, and this festive season the saying might prove to be true.
This December it’s all about good times in sizzle city during the holidays.
After working hard all year round, Zululanders can sit back, relax and enjoy the best in comedy, right here at home.
With a number of top class comedy shows coming to the city, rumour has it this festive season will prove to be the best one yet in terms of quality entertainment.
Check out some of the shows planned:
uMhlathuze Comedy Show
Pack your picnic baskets, load your cooler boxes and get ready for the first ever comedy picnic in Richards Bay.
Start the summer season with loads of laughter as 20 of South Africa’s top comedians share the stage at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex on Saturday, 3 December.
This first outdoor comedy session spearheaded by homegrown funnyman Sfiso Nene will feature a variety of comedy acts such as Kagiso Lediga, Felix Hlophe, Simphiwe Shembe, Gaviv Kelly, Mpho Pops and Thenjiwe, to name just a few.
The show begins at 3.30pm.
One Night Comedy Special
Mandeni-born comedienne Nonto Rabushe will host a one-woman show at the Umfolozi Casino Resort on Friday, 16 December.
This lady comes with a different take in comedy, as she will spread laughter using her pregnancy as the source of her material.
‘I have never seen a pregnant comedienne performing in South Africa, so I wanted to be the first. And since it’s the celebration of 60 years of the Women Charter, I thought it would be a great thing to say to women they can achieve anything,’ says Nonto R.
She is definitely no stranger to the public. Fans know this emerging comic as part of the Simphiwe Shembe Comedy Connections and other comedy shows.
She has worked with various radio stations, including Ukhozi FM, iGagasi FM, Love Life Community Radio and uMgungundlovu Community Radio.
Nonto R will be accompanied by Sangsey and Unizulu-based comedian Mangaliso Mhlongo who is known for his funny religious jokes.
