Thotaran qualified to participate in the contest after excelling in a Maths Olympiad earlier this year

STANGER Manor Secondary pupil, Leevesh Thotaran returned victorious from the 2016 International Wizards at Mathematics International Contest (WIZMIC) hosted in India last month.

The 13-year-old showed off his mathematical abilities and scored third place (bronze) in the contest hosted by City Montessori School (CMS).

CMS is the world’s largest school recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records with over 52 000 students and also the recipient of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Prize for Peace Education-2002.

International WIZMIC is organised with the basic objective of promoting, encouraging and building unity and peace among all people irrespective of their nationality, race, colour, creed, gender or faith while creating Math Wizards.

Thotaran qualified to participate in the contest after excelling in a Maths Olympiad earlier this year.

According to his mother Ashika, her son has always excelled in Mathematics and is a straight A student in all subjects.

‘He thoroughly enjoyed the experience and mentioned that the exam was challenging but he was happy to have received bronze,’ she said.
