Reinforced Thanda look to make amends
Thanda Royal Zulu take on Maluti FET College on Saturday

HAVING got off to a poor start this season – albeit with a couple of bad luck losses by small margins – Thanda Royal Zulu FC’s young guns could turn things around dramatically at home on Saturday against Maluti FET College.
Prior to the three National First Division fixtures played on Wednesday night, Amabhubesi were fifth from bottom in the 16-team league, with just five points from six games.
However, depending on other results, a win could catapult them into the top half of the table.
At this early stage, Milano United are the pace-setter with a full house 15 points from five, followed by African Warriors (12) and Chippa United (11).
In fourth place is United FC with eight points, well in reach of an ever-improving Thanda team.
Amabhubesi, who drew 1-1 with Chippa United in their last home game, suffered a 1-0 loss away to Sivutsa Stars in their last league outing – their third defeat of the season.
Thanda Royal Zulu skipper Diamond Thopola said, ‘It has been a roller-coaster for us at the start of this season but we have started picking up, and coming to this season we knew it was not going to be easy, but we will continue to work hard we were just unfortunate to lose against Sivutsa.
‘We know that we have not started the season well and things have been a bit difficult for us, but I would like to urge all our fans to keep on supporting us as we try to get back to our winning ways.
‘On Saturday we are playing against a quality side in Maluti FET College and they showed that when they beat Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup last season while they were still campaigning in the Second Division.
‘However we will go out there to collect all three points in order to catch up with the clubs that are on top of us,’ said Thopola.
Thanda recently signed former Kaizer Chiefs striker David Radebe and former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Phelelani Mpangase to add more experience to Prof Mlungisi Ngubane’s outfit.
The match kicks off at 3pm and once again, home support would be a great help to the local outfit who will be wanting plenty of noise to energise their efforts.
