A MOTORIST who almost lost his life in a hijacking on Sunday is on the road to recovery, while his gun-toting waving assailant will spend the whole week in police custody.
The 36-year-old suspect will only be able to apply for bail when he reappears in the Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
This notorious carjacking suspect was nabbed in the early hours of Monday morning after police received information from the community.
Residents in the Mananda area gave police information about a man travelling in a stolen Toyota Hilux.
The vehicle was found abandoned with no sign of the suspect, but on Monday his luck ran out when Gingindlovu police arrested him in the KwaKhoza area.
He was found in possession of an unlicenced 9mm firearm and ammunition.
The suspect was charged with attempted murder, carjacking, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
