Action needed, not excuses

We do not need SASSA’s feeble excuses

I REFER to the article of ZO 21 October and the poor response of Vusi Mahaye spokesperson of the SASSA concerning poor service delivery at the welfare offices at Ngwelezane.

Disabled people who applied to re-register well before the expiry date to renew their grants, received their new pension cards in time.

They were subsequently paid, but then suddenly without any legitimate reason the grants were terminated.

Four teams of officials and a medical practitioner have visited the one unfortunate family with four disabled children. Sympathies and apologies were expressed over and over again but these people desperately need food, water, medication and money for labour – not apologies.

We do not need SASSA’s feeble excuses. We now need action from state officials. Please have some compassion and service this desperate family and many other silent sufferers.
