Knock-out stage in darts league

The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday 16 November, with the finals on Wednesday, 23 November.

LOCAL darts players will look to sharpen up their game as they head into the quarter-final stages of the Empangeni Darts Sports League.

The hotly contested round robin stages came to an end on Wednesday evening with the last four sides fighting it out to reach the knock-outs.

Rhinos beat Fernandos 6-0 at the Empangeni Rugby Club (ERC), with Impis beating Bangin The Neighbours 6-1 at the Moth Hall.

With Fernandos losing their eighth consecutive game this season, they automatically fell out of the competition, leaving eight teams to contest for the title on Wednesday.

ERC had a phenominal season up to now, finishing on top of the log with 15 points, only suffering one loss.

Defending champions Hullets finished third on 14 points, below second-placed Impis.

The team, captained by Herman Steyn, will have to put the loss of their team-mate Ronnie McEwan behind them if they want to claim back-to-back titles.

The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday 16 November, with the finals on Wednesday, 23 November.

Wednesday’s quarter-final fixtures
• ERC vs Aces at ERC.
• Impis vs Rhinos at Moth Hall.
• Hullets vs Umoya at Hullets.
• Undertakers vs Bangin The Neighbours at Moth Hall.
