UPDATE: Anonymous caller says Mia is safe

Dylan Mason disappeared with their daughter last Saturday after a domestic dispute

POLICE has urged the father of missing two-year-old Mia Jade Mason to make contact with them and work through the proper channels to obtain custody of her, or risk being charged criminally.

Mia’s mother, Natalie Mason, says Mia’s father, a local tattoo artist Dylan Mason, disappeared with their daughter last Saturday after a domestic dispute.

Following a report in the Zululand Observer and the circulation of a PSARU pamphlet, an anonymous person reported that Mia was safe and that Dylan only wants the best for his daughter.

However, SAPS communication officer Captain Debbie Ferreira urged him to make contact with SAPS.

‘While he may believe he is acting in the best interest of his daughter, he has to follow the proper procedures to comply with the law and show he is acting in good faith.

‘He has to approach a social worker and bring an application through the Children’s Court, and can also approach the Family Advocate’s office.

‘I urge Mr Mason to contact me on 083 7784175.’

Anyone with information on Mia’s whereabouts is urged to contact Capt Ferreira.
