A passion for the environment

This newly established group of nine members tackle a variety of environmental issues

A GROUP of young University of Zululand (Unizulu) students are passionate about the environment.

The Enviro-Minds, headed by Unizulu’s Environmental Planning and Development students, aim to tackle environmental issues by mentoring other young people and encouraging them to become change agents in their communities.

This newly established group of nine members tackle a variety of environmental issues, which include littering, air pollution and landscaping and water conservation.

They conduct clean-up campaigns, undertake community awareness activities, and share information to encourage the greening of the environment.

‘We help youngsters to understand environmental challenges and provide personal growth plans by offering them information. If we want to spread the message, we realised we need to convey it through schools and ensure people adapt at a young age and change their mindsets,’ said Enviro-Minds chairperson and founder,’ Siyanda Mnguni.
