Medal haul for Megaforce Blackbelt Academy students

MEGAFORCE Blackbelt Academy taekwondo students Angelique Grundlingh, Rudhra Poorun and Aaryan Poorun fought their way to the top at the 2016 Destiny taekwondo tournament (light contact) in Cape Town over the weekend.

Grundlingh (aged 20, first dan black belt) achieved gold for creative weapons, silver for traditional creative kata and traditional weapons, bronze for point sparring and finished fourth for continuous sparring.

She also received the grand champion award for weapons.

Rudhra (aged 7, green belt) claimed gold for light contact continuous sparring and creative kata, silver for creative weapons, bronze for traditional weapons and finished fourth for traditional creative kata and points sparring.

His older brother Aaryan (11, blue belt) took gold for creative kata, creative weapons and light continuous sparring, bronze for full contact mixed martial arts light and ended fourth for points sparring, traditional creative kata and traditional weapons.

All first to fourth place finishes were given invitations to represent the SA team to compete at the 2017 ISKA World Martial Arts Championships in Orlando Florida next year.
