Hume on track for double championship victory

Hume on title mission

ENDURO rider Calvin Hume throttled this year’s competition to bag the 2016 KZN X Country Championship title after numerous podium finishes in the High School Class.

But this recent success is not enough for the talented off-road dust muncher.

‘With only one more national race to go in the WFO KZN Enduro Series, Calvin is hoping to take the national title in the very competitive High School Class and add his second KZN Championship title to his trophy cabinet,’ said father Brett Hume.

Calvin, placed fifth overall at the 5th round of the WFO KZN Enduro Series, raced recently at Seven Oaks near Greytown.

‘Calvin’s intentions were not only to win his class, but also to put himself up at the top with the some of the best riders in the country.’

‘The young Zululand rider placed 5th overall for the day in a very tough 120km track, taking riders out on virgin tracks cut in the mountains.

‘The track title was called the Romaniacs Edition, as it mainly was set in the forest, taking riders up off camber rocky trails and steep technical drop-offs, down the fire breaks into river beds for a few kilometres.

‘Just to add to the challenge, rain the day before made the track very slippery and saw many riders having to push their bikes over rocks and wet, slippery logs. The race ended off with an enduro style track, which saw riders riding over big gum logs placed on the track to test their skill.’

Calvin will take a few weeks break before competing in the final round of the WFO KZN Enduro Series on Saturday
12 November.
