WATCH: Angler risks life and limb to rescue turtle

Community applauds selfless efforts of Richards Bay angler

A RICHARDS BAY angler is being applauded for his selflessness after he clambered down the dolosse at South Pier to help a sea turtle in distress.

The turtle was being strangled by plastic netting and it appears it had climbed onto one of the dolosse while struggling to free itself.

A video of the angler, whose name is unknown, systematically cutting away the netting was posted on the Facebook group, Richards Bay Angling News by Kenneth Williams over the weekend.

By this morning, it had been shared nearly 300 times.

Now the search is on to locate the brave angler.

‘I hope we can find him, just to show him we appreciate his efforts,’ Kenneth commented under the video.
