THE small, lifeless body of a baby was found dumped in a rubbish bin in Empangeni on Thursday.
According to police, patrons of the taxi A Rank next to Boxer found the child while throwing away rubbish.
The police were immediately summoned and an inquest docket is under investigation.
The South African Medical Research Council and the University of South Africa say at least 446 foetuses and babies under one years of age are found in drains, gutters and rubbish bins every year in South Africa.
