Beware bogus job ‘agent’

The man goes by the name of Mr Shabalala and claims to be a school principal

UTHUNGULU district education director David Chonco has cautioned teachers searching for employment not to hand money to an ‘agent’ promising them jobs.

Speaking to the Zululand Observer on Thursday, Chonco said his department has heard of a man who calls himself ‘Mr Shabalala’, who claims to be a school principal.

‘We have sent SMS messages to school principals to warn their teachers to be aware of this bogus principal.

‘The department tried to open a case of fraud with the police, but they advised us only affected individuals could open a case against this impostor.

‘We therefore advise those affected to go to their nearest police station and open a case of fraud,’ Chonco said.

He said uThungulu has about 320 teaching positions available, but no notices have been issued.

The department has a database on which teachers seeking employment leave their details, and when vacancies open, prospective teachers will be advised to see the principal of the school with an opening and fill in application forms.
