Irate passengers left stranded at Bay airport

The flight schedule was thrown off course

A LARGE number of SA Express passengers had to be bused to King Shaka Airport in Durban on Tuesday night after the carrier cancelled all flights between Richards Bay and Johannesburg in the afternoon until Wednesday morning.

The flight schedule was thrown off course after a plane heading to Richards Bay experienced technical difficulties and had to turn back to Johannesburg at 2.30pm.

Furious flyers, including businessmen from the United States and China, only arrived at King Shaka International Airport after 9pm and finally landed at OR Tambo at 11.40pm – nearly four hours after their original landing time.

‘I only got to my hotel at 1.30am before an important meeting in the morning,’ said a Richards Bay businessman.

‘This after a two-hour commute by bus to King Shaka and yet another delay to Johannesburg.’
