Bay school applauds astronomical effort

The first round of this year's competition started off with over 300 schools taking part

RICHARDS Bay Primary School finished among the top 12 schools in KZN at the annual Astro Quiz this year.

Aimed at improving the teaching and learning of basic astronomy in primary schools, the quiz is run as a knock-out event with teams of four Grade 7 pupils per school participating.

The first round of this year’s competition started off with over 300 schools taking part, and each leg of the quiz involves school teams competing to answer a set of 30 questions and half of the competing schools are knocked out in each leg.

Richards Bay Primary School progressed past rounds one and two after much hard hard work, commitment and diligence while even studying through the June holidays.

In round three, they placed first out of 31 schools and progressed to the fourth round which comprises the top 12 schools in the province, but unfortunately, did not progress to the National level.
