BY the end of the week all KZN councils will have been sworn in and ready to serve.
The run-up to this week’s inauguration processes was marred on Tuesday afternoon when a senior municipal official at Nongoma Municipality was shot and killed outside his home.
Forty-year-old Zweli Duma, an internal audit manager, was shot several times and declared dead on the scene.
‘This comes as a blot on what has been an otherwise peaceful election in KZN and his untimely death is a setback to the municipality as he possessed critical skills.
‘We have directed the police to work around the clock to ensure that the perpetrators of this crime are brought to book soon‚’ said KZN Community Safety MEC Mxolisi Kaunda.
