AN Empangeni man has been killed in a freak accident after he reportedly fell while chatting to his gardener at his home in Kerk Street, Empangeni a short while ago.
The deceased, believed to be in his sixties, was reportedly holding onto a tree while conversing when the branch broke causing him to lose balance.
He fell and hit his forehead on the pavement.
The man was pronounced dead when paramedics arrived.
