No tolerance for dirty business

He has greatly contributed to RBM becoming a clean, lean and green machine

MINING can be a dirty business, but under the auspices of Nick Okello this is not the case at Richards Bay Minerals (RBM).

Since the environmental scientist joined the company in 2011, he has greatly contributed to RBM becoming a clean, lean and green machine.

He played a key role in two major achievements in 2014, when RBM became the first mining entity in KZN to be honoured by the Institute for Waste Management South Africa for exemplary waste management protocols.

RBM also walked away as the winner of the annual National Association of Clean Air award.

Okello and the rest of the team working in the company’s Health, Safety, Environment and Security Division, saw these awards as testament to their hard work and RBM’s commitment to being a good environmental steward.
