Magudu police nab armed robbers

During preliminary investigation the officers discovered the suspects were wanted for an armed robbery

MAGUDU police last week netted five armed robbery suspects, seizing three 9mm pistols and R17 000 in cash.

According to SAPS spokesperson Captain Nkosie Gwala, Magudu police were conducting routine patrols on the R66 between Nongoma and Pongola when they spotted a red Honda Ballade with five occupants.

‘Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, they found three 9mm pistols and ammunition under the seats,’ she said.
‘An amount of R17 000 in cash was also recovered.’

During preliminary investigation the officers discovered the suspects were wanted for an armed robbery committed in Witbank in July.

‘All five suspects were charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and will appear in the Ngoje Magistrate’s Court soon.’

Fake Goods

Magudu SAPS were again successful on Friday when they observed four bakkies carrying heavy loads on the R66 at around 1am.

A stop and search revealed the bakkies were transporting counterfeit goods from Manguzi to Johannesburg.

‘Seven suspects, including two Nigerian nationals, were arrested,’ said Captain Gwala.

‘The estimated value of the counterfeit goods is around R500 000.’
