Attempted ATM robbery in eShowe

It appears that an angle grinder was used to try and cut the safe open

THE eShowe police attended to a scene of attempted robbery in eShowe on Monday morning.
At around 2.15am a call was received, reporting that two men were inside the ATM room of Standard Bank.
On arrival it was found that the criminals broke through the wall next to the ATM’s to gain access.
It appears that an angle grinder was used to try and cut the safe open, but this failed and no cash was taken.
Damage estimated at R150 000 damages was caused to the infrastructure.

No eyewitnesses have come forward, but it is believed that the suspects used two vehicles with GP registration numbers.

The one vehicle was a white Mazda 323 and the other a black bakkie/jeep type of vehicle.
The number of suspects invloved are unknown at this stage.
