Prayer for peaceful elections
The Empangeni Ministers Fraternal has appealed to the church community to pray for peaceful elections.

WITH only three days to go before the local government elections, the Empangeni Ministers Fraternal has appealed to the church community to pray for peaceful elections in uMhlathuze and surrounding areas.
Rev George van der Walt of the Reformed Church said as church ministers they felt they needed to make an impact by praying for the leaders of the community instead of being spectators.
‘We are different pastors who work together for a common cause. We do this by putting aside our differences and focus on what binds together.
‘We want to encourage all people to exercise their rights and obligation to vote and we pray that the citizens will take this responsibility seriously. We are also specifically praying that the elections, not only here in uMhlathuze but also countrywide, will be peaceful.
‘We are also praying that leadership, regardless of political affiliation, will not be self-serving, but be accountable so that the needs of the people will be served,’ he said.
