SMME seminar gets down to business

Chamber to host the annual SMME seminar and exhibition on Thursday.

THE annual ZCCI SMME seminar and exhibition is once again ready to take care of business this Thursday at the Kingfisher Hall in the ZCBF Community Park.

Hosted by the Zululand Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the popular event puts owners of small, medium and macro enterprises (SMMEs) in direct contact with funding agencies, incubation programmes and procurement opportunities from large business.

ZCCI President Judith Nzimande said the seminar will focus on the four pillars for any new business to succeed – motivation, skills, funding and compliance – with speakers addressing these topics throughout the day.

‘SMMEs drive the engine of economic growth, job creation and development today.

‘It is critical to support and develop small and medium industries and bring opportunities to them.

‘During the seminar, owners of SMMEs will be exposed to large businesses procurement opportunities, government departments and other SMME development agencies to assist them with all their queries and make face-to-face interaction possible.

The keynote speaker of the day will be entrepreneur, teacher and author, Patience Mlengana.

She is a public speaker, with invitations to address conferences in Africa, America and Europe.

Mlengana is also the head of Patience Holdings, which specialises in construction and development, and is a Director of Regro Technologies and Green Connect – companies in the telecoms sector.
