Veldsman makes national squad

ZULULAND U19 lock Sheldon Veldsman made his presence felt at the recent national AVS Bokkie Week rugby tournament in Kroonstad.
The Richards Bay player’s outstanding performances resulted in his selection for the national AVS invitation squad.
He was summonsed to the first national trials held in Pretoria last week and is in the running to be selected for the team to undertake a tour to Russia in October.
No fewer than 12 rugby players from Empangeni and Richards Bay represented the KZN AVS rugby teams at the 25th national Bokkie Week tournament at the beginning of the month.
More than 3 000 players participated in rugby, hockey and netball. Another tournament will be held in Pretoria in October.
