Rachel trots to great heights
The Zululand Pony Club was not well represented, which meant that 12-year-old Rachel had to compete as an individual, with other clubs competing in teams.
ZULULAND Pony Club’s Rachel Mahiyamu and her steed Marwick Rockefella cantered to success at the recent KZN pony club inter branch competition held at Treverton Schools in Mooi River.
Unfortunately the Zululand Pony Club was not well represented, which meant that 12-year-old Rachel had to compete as an individual, with other clubs competing in teams.
This technical mishap did not faze the talented young rider who went on to take gold in equitation, show jumping and 3 phase eventing.
She also bagged a bronze for dressage in the children’s category.
Rachel was also selected for the KZN Pony Club children’s team for equitation, show jumping and dressage, earning her SA Pony Club half colours in equitation and dressage and full colours in show jumping.
Rachel and Marwick Rockefella have only been together for nine months.
