Bay songbird launches music career

The 26-year-old songbird has been singing for over a decade, but went professional last January when she was laid off from work.

HAVING launched her debut album Suiderkruis at this year’s Dolosfees in April, Richards Bay singer Michelle Jooste is back in the studio working on her next release.

The 26-year-old songbird has been singing for over a decade, but went professional last January when she was laid off from work.

At about the same time she discovered she is pregnant and took a leap of faith and launched her music career.

Her album has 12 tracks and is a mix of English and Afrikaans songs.

‘My goal is to inspire people with my music and my songs are about love, peace and always having a positive outlook on life.

‘My songs are written for the loved ones in my life, such as my son, husband and late grandfather who died of cancer.

‘Other songs are tributes to all those people who believed in me, supported and encouraged me to pursue my dream.

‘One of the tracks ‘Red Lips’ is a song promoting cancer awareness.

‘The message I want to send through my music is that people need to love one another, stand by each other and not to give grief to each other,’ she said.

She has been signed with MAD Entertainment and has already been booked to perform at festivals, concerts and events.
