Bop and jive for Matthew’s fund-raiser

The charity event will be held on Saturday at the Zululand Multi Sport Club.

COME dressed up and ready to bop and jive in fancy pants at the ‘Dance Hour for Matthew’ charity event on Saturday at the Zululand Multi Sport Club.

Piet and Geraldine Theunissen, parents of two-year-old Matthew, is hosting the crazy marathon to raise funds for a sensory suit for Matthew.

He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of six months and is quadriplegic.

The cheerful toddler was prematurely born and abandoned at Empangeni War Memorial Hospital by his birth mother and the Theunissens adopted him when he was five weeks old.

The sensory suit will help his blood circulation and posture development.

The couple also started Equidae Therapeutic Riding, using horses as therapeutic agents to help Matthew and others like him in Richards Bay.

The ‘Dance Hour for Matthew’, is also to raise awareness of the lack of therapeutic and rehabilitation facilities to accommodate children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities locally.

Geraldine can be contacted on 0834607631 or email geraldinefstr@gmail.com. The event will begin at 11am to 2 pm and a cash bar is available.
