THE KZN Arts and Culture Department, led by MEC Bongi Sithole-Moloi, in partnership with the Department of Basic Education is hosting more than 300 pupils from across the province at a Youth Camp Summit in Mtubatuba.

The conference, held at Meet Mekaar Resort, began on Monday and is taking place under the backdrop of teaching scholars to love their country.

The Department of Arts and Culture has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Basic Education to teach pupils about national symbols such as the national flag, the National Anthem, national animal, national flower, national bird, national fish, tree and others.

The summit kicked off with a drill on Monday evening by Nkosikhona Dlamini of Menzi High and Wezile Sibeko of Umlazi Technical High School with which they shared with their fellow pupils the importance of the national flag and the meaning of the different colours.
