Thousands of litres lost to leak

Tens of thousands of litres of potable water washed under the Billiton bridge next to the John Ross Parkway until Monday morning.

CITY of uMhlathuze repair teams worked through the night on Thursday after Telkom workers drilled through a main water pipe feeding the Foskor plant.

Temporary measures were however not enough to prevent tens of thousands of litres of potable water washing under the Billiton bridge next to the John Ross Parkway, spilling down the Harbour Arterial culvert until Monday morning.

The leak was isolated, with temporary supply restored to Foskor on an alternate line.

A shut will be scheduled to suit the municipality and Foskor, so as to effect a proper repair.
