Exhibition on Nepal earthquake aftermath
The exhibition will be presented by Durban teacher Ernest Pillay
IMAGES taken after the devastating earthquake in Nepal last year will be on show this week at the Richards Bay Library.
The exhibition, BC (Base Camp) Through the Lens of Love, Fear and Faith will be presented by Durban teacher Ernest Pillay from today (Monday) to 1 July from 10am to 7pm.
Pillay captured the pictures after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal and sent tremors across the region, including where he was camped at Cho La Pass on the mountainous route to Mt Everest’s base camp.
He was on a hiking trip to the base camp when the earthquake struck, triggering an avalanche on Mt Everest.
The collection of evocative and colour photographs document the direct aftermath from the vantage point of the Everest base camp and captures the horror, fear and destruction the earthquake caused.
