A BURGLAR gott off lightly after making off with a whopping R158 000 worth of stolen goods from an Empangeni home.
Njabulo Mabika broke into the Inyala Park home in September 2015, targeting just about everything.
An R81 000 engagement ring was the prize jewel of his more than 20 item cache.
The 29-year-old Ngwelezane man was arrested by the end of September that year, and his complicity in another break-in, which occurred in March 2009, was discovered.
He made off with R8 200 worth of items in the second incident.
Mabika also has two previous convictions, one for theft in 2005 and a second housebreaking charge in 2009.
He is currently serving a three year sentence at Qalakabusha prison, and the Empangeni Magistrates Court sentenced him to a further three years imprisonment for both charges after the defence pleaded leniency in light of this fact.
