Pupils learn about dental care

DENTAL Therapist Dr F Khambule visited Ilembe Primary on Wednesday morning to teach pupils about the importance of brushing their teeth twice a day.

The young dentist was invited by the school’s Youth Citizens Action Programme (Y-CAP) Team after a group of pupils who were chosen to participate in the education department’s hygiene programme, decided to focus on dental hygiene.

The excited children participated in the doctor’s demonstrations, some winning gifts like toothpaste, and vouchers to visit the Khambule Dental Surgery (KDS) to have their teeth cleaned for free.

According to the school’s Y-CAP project facilitator Mrs VL Ngcamu, after winning at the district level competitions, Ilembe’s Y-CAP Team will showcase their skills on dental hygiene at the provincial competitions, which will be held in Pinetown on 3 June.
